Find Love Where You Live in Northern Virginia

Here’s my cupid advice since Valentine’s Day is around the corner. For those of you that live in an apartment in Fairfax VA or a condo in Arlington VA.
- Be social when it comes to events no matter how cheesy they sound. Attend those building meetings and drop by the mixers. Staying til the end gives you the best opportunity to get noticed and make your rounds. Talking about issues with the building make for great topics of conversation.
- The two best places to meet are the laundry room and the pool. If your building doesn’t have an indoor pool, it’s obviously out of the question this time of year. Phoenix, Station Square, Clarendon 1021, and the Charleston are out of the question with their outdoor or rooftop pools. The mail room is another casual opportunity for some small talk. The most awkward place in the building is the elevator. Always greet people that step on, friendliness is contagious and infectious. Your smile goes a long way.
- Now this may sound like too much to handle, but an informal invite to happy hour in Clarendon, Ballston, or Fairfax Corner may be convenient. Low pressure situations keep the heart rate low. No matter how things turn out, you’re close to home.
- Lastly, you have to carry yourself well. Have that swagger that all the kids are talking about nowadays. Look ready to meet someone. Don’t even walk to your car looking lousy.
